End of days at Elm Park School

Wow, the time is approaching when Jared is leaving Elm Park School after 6 years. Will be strange not to be coming here any more but exciting times are ahead at Farm Cove Intermediate - new friends to make, new subjects to explore, new teachers and a new uniform.

Jared has enjoyed his time at Elm Park, playing on the playground and field at lunchtimes. Swimming in the pool. The teachers have all been really supportive and have challenged him to try to new things and to experience new things.

Highlights this year?? I'd say the camp, swimming day at Lloyd Elsmore Pools with the floating obstacle course and the dinner/disco the other week a raving success. We heard all about it at home.

Well done Jared, a big senior off to intermediate school now. Thanks to the teachers, especially Mrs Graham.

Improper and Mixed Fractions

I've been learning how to change fractions.  Mrs Graham put questions on the board and I had to copy them and work out the answers.  I did good because I got some of them right.  For these questions I have to work out how many wholes and what's left over.  It was easy because we learnt by cutting up circles and seeing what it looks like.

My Explanation

The rubbish gets dropped on the ground.  Rain gets it in the drain and goes to the sea.  Fish eat the rubbish and marine animals get sick and die.  The rubbish gets jammed in the fish or marine animals.  It is bad for people to think it’s okay.

I was learning about writing explanations. When you write an explanation, you say how this happens and then that happens. Sometimes it's hard to come up with the ideas.

I did an explanation as a picture. It was about bio-accumulation. Sometimes it's easier to draw a picture to explain what I'm thinking instead of writing words.

My Balanced Argument

I was learning how to write a balanced argument.  It was easier using the writing frame.  The class helped to come up with the ideas.  I feel good about what I have written.

Kenning Poem

This poem is called a Kenning Poem.  It is a poem about me.  It was easy.  I had to think about what I like and then I had to think about what I do with those things.

Kensuke's Kingdom Map

This a map of where Michael went when he was going around the world with his Mum and Dad.  They were on a boat.  When we were reading the book, we had to listen for the places he had been.  We made a map together and then we did our own.
